Echo Taps Ceremony

The Norwich University Corps of Cadets, under the command of Cadet Colonel Ryan Cranston, NU '23, will conduct an Echo Taps Ceremony in honor of Captain Nicholas Losapio, USMC, NU '13, on Thursday, 22 September, at 2200 on the Upper Parade Ground. Norwich and local Northfield community members are welcome to attend the ceremony. We ask all attendees to arrive at the Upper Parade Ground by 2150, assemble near Jackman Hall, and remain quiet and respectful throughout the ceremony. Captain Losapio perished with four other Marines on 8 June 2022, in a Marine MV-22 Osprey mishap while training in the California desert. At Norwich, Nick was a member of Cadet Training Company 09-3-1 and later served as a platoon sergeant for 11-3-2 and platoon leader for 12-4-3. A Distinguished Military Graduate, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management. He was active in Naval ROTC, was president of Semper Fidelis Society, and served as vice president of Delta Mu Delta, a business honor society. He also competed on the Wrestling team as a first-year cadet. Nick was regarded as an exceptional Marine officer, aviator, and qualified Weapons and Tactics Instructor. A native of Kensington, New Hampshire, Nick resided in Oceanside, California, with his fiancée, Kelsie Hancock, NU '15.

Echo Taps is a Corps ceremony meant to show respect for and honor fallen cadets, cadet alumni, or alumni killed in the line of duty. It's a solemn ceremony meant to emulate a military funeral.
