This event is not just for the ladies! Revolutionary War buffs and artisan crafters won't want to miss this! The head of historical dress at the EAHM will broaden our perspective of this richly fascinating time (and even teach us a little about today).

What's the difference between a corset and stays? Was wearing a pair of stays comfortable or practical for frontier farm life? Join us for an intimate, interactive look at womenswear in the late 18th century. Components of a working woman's wardrobe will be exhibited and shown how they fit together as a cohesive whole.

Skye Makaris is a historian and seamstress who recreates historical garments with methods used in the period. She is the head of historical dress at the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum and a distaff member of Warner's Regiment, an 18th-century reenactment group.

The EAHM Sunday Lecture Series is a free monthly community program covering a variety of topics pertaining to the Homestead, early America, and Vermont. Donations are always welcome.
