Net Zero Energy Festival – A Supercharged Day of Family

Burlington is moving along to meet their Net Zero Energy city goal by 2030. To further equip the community with the know-how to take steps toward Net Zero Energy by reducing fossil fuel use which leads to saving money, the first annual Net Zero Energy Festival is taking place outdoors at BED's 585 Pine Street offices on Saturday, September 17 from 9am to 1pm (rain date September 24), The event will provide activities for folks of all ages. Raffles, DJ Melo Grant and two live musical artists – Brett Hughes and DonnCherie McKenzie, kids activities hosted by the Vermont Energy Education Partnership, and food trucks, including the Pizza 44 wood-burning oven pizza truck with rooftop solar panels, the Lake Champlain Chocolates ice cream truck, Meef's Coffee Bus, food from City Market, Coconut Prince nutritional drinks, and the Micro Mobile Kitchen.

Test-ride an E-Bike, Test-drive an EV Free E-bike test rides and electric vehicle test drives during the Festival. If you have never had the opportunity to ride and/or drive electric, then you are in for a special treat. Both modes of transportation help significantly with our reduction of fossil fuel vehicle miles traveled and make great contributions toward our Net Zero Energy goal.

Walk, Bike, Carshare Achieving Net Zero Energy also involves walking, biking, and carsharing as much as possible. To support this mission, the Festival will include the Old Spokes Home mobile bike repair unit, Local Motion bike parking, CarShare Vermont's membership table, and the "Walk to Shop" trolley team. Leave your internal combustion vehicle at home and join in the fun!

To convey the message of a being an energy champion, everyone's furry, green mascot, the Vermont Lake Monsters CHAMP, will join from 11:30am to 12:30pm for hugs and photos.
