The Green Mountain National Forest is providing free outdoor programs and guided hikes throughout the fall! Be on the lookout for events through September and in to mid-October. Come join the fun! This week the activities are:
THURSDAY 9/15
9:30 - 11:30 am: Hike the North Branch Trail to Voter Brook Overlook
A challenging 3 mile roundtrip hike along a boulder-strewn brook to a fabulous overlook. Meets at the Silver Lake Trail parking lot. Call hike leader Pat at 802-578-3980 for more information and to sign up.
FRIDAY 9/16
10 - 12:30 pm: Hog back Mountain Loop at Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center
A moderately challenging 4 mile hike passing through woods, wild blueberry fields, and featuring mountain views. Wear bug spray, close-toed shoes, and bring plenty of water. SATURDAY 9/17
10 - 11:30 am: Meditative Walk at the Robert Frost Interpretive Trail
Meet at the Robert Frost Interpretive Trail for a guided walking meditation practice. The trail is ADA accessible and rated easy. Email Jill at brooks.jill96@gmail.com for more info.
1 - 4 pm: Hike and Plein Air Painting at Voter Brook Overlook
Hike to an overlook of wildflowers and the Adirondack mountains, and spend an hour making art before heading back. Watercolor supplies and basic instruction provided. SUNDAY 9/18
10 - 1pm: Hike to Story Time at Silver Lake
Hike along an old forest road to story time on the shores of a peaceful mountain lake. Hike is rated moderate and features 700 feet of elevation gain. Story time is intended for children ages 5-10, but all are welcome. Meet at the Silver Lake trailhead to join. Be sure to wear bug spray, close-toed shoes & bring plenty of water!.
