The League of Women Voters of Vermont is sponsoring two presentations in Montpelier on Article 22, the Reproductive Liberty Amendment to the Vermont Constitution.
Members Johanna Nichols and Lyn Blackwell will talk about the language and benefits of Article 22 to amend the Vermont Constitution, review the history of abortion rights in Vermont, and open a dialogue with participants about their experiences with family planning before and after passage of Roe v. Wade in 1973.
PRESENTATIONS
Let's Talk about Article 22: The Reproductive Liberty Amendment (RLA)
Wednesday, September 14 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Montpelier Senior Activity Center, 58 Barre Street.
Monday, September 26 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Kellogg-Hubbard Library, 135 Main Street.
Article 22, Reproductive Liberty Amendment, on the ballot November 8, protects every person's right to make their own reproductive decisions about whether and when to become pregnant, use temporary or permanent birth control, or seek abortion care.
If passed, Vermont will become the first state to fully protect reproductive rights in its constitution. The League of Women Voters believes we must protect the constitutional right of privacy of the individual to make reproductive choices.
