Location: The Left Bank (5 Bank Street, North Bennington, VT)
The Left Bank is accessible for individuals with mobility challenges.

These workshops are free and reservations are not needed. Attending all three workshops isn't necessary, but is encouraged. Attendees should bring a notebook and pen or a laptop to participate in writing activities.

Description: What is the purpose of telling a story? Storytelling does not have to be just another way to voice an opinion, or to relay information. Stories can hold truth and mystery; beauty and strangeness. They can surprise and delight and be utterly heartbreaking at the same time. In this workshop, participants will strive to write more compelling and authentic prose by challenging their intellect and learning to trust their intuition, their desires, and their senses. We will study contemporary writers and respond to prompts that ask us to make a distinction between information and inspiration; objectivity and insight. Between what we know and what we feel to be true.

About the workshop facilitator: Genevieve Plunkett is the author of PREPARE HER: Stories, and a forthcoming novel, IN THE LOBBY OF THE DREAM HOTEL (Catapult, 2023). Her fiction has appeared in The O. Henry Prize Stories, The Best Small Fictions, and has been recognized twice as notable in The Best American Short Stories. Other writing can be found in New England Review, The Southern Review, Electric Literature's "Recommended Reading," Crazyhorse, The Colorado Review, Literary Hub, and elsewhere. In 2017, she was a recipient of the St. Botolph Award for Emerging Artists in Literature. She lives in Vermont with her two children.
