Vermont Constitution Amendment Article 22

Past event
Sep 11, 2022, 10 to 11:30 AM

We have invited Sharon Toberg from Vermont for Good Government to speak about Article 22, as some call it, 'the Reproductive Liberty Amendment' to the Vermont State Constitution during the 10:00 service Sunday, September 11th at the Old Brick Church in East Montpelier. The proposed amendment will be on November ballot in Vermont for a vote of the citizenry. One comment many have had about the amendment is that it would put into the constitution the allowance of late-term abortions which are already allowed by law in the Vermont Statutes. Late-term abortions would be allowed by the constitution for aborting fetuses that are 7, 8 or 9 months along and fully developed, just waiting to be born, that one or both of the parents decide then they can't provide for either because of finances or they have too many children already or they have discovered their relationship as a couple isn't working and one of them feels they can't handle the baby alone, orfor some other reason. Sharon will talk about other possible meanings and consequences to this amendment. It would be very important to come to the church Sunday to hear what Sharon has to say, to see her power-point presentation and to meet with her afterwards to discuss any questions. If it isn't possible for you to attend the service in person, we plan to broadcast it live through the church's Facebook website where it could be watched later if you are not able to watch it at that time. Both pro-choice and pro-life Vermont voters are especially encouraged to attend Sunday.

Arrangements can be made with Sharon for her to speak to your group too.

Coffee hour to follow the service.

A box will be on the table in the back of the sanctuary to give an offering to Sharon to help her with her expenses in traveling around before the vote in November.

Please be praying for Sharon and for those of us who will be listening to her.
