Barre Town's fall bulk trash is on Saturday, September 17. The service hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The collection is held at the Department of Public Works Yard at 129 Websterville Road. The service is for Barre Town residents' home use. It is not to be used by landlords for discarding items from rental properties, nor by businesses.
A fee per vehicle is charged. Multiple trips are allowed. The fee is charged for each trip. Cash or check only.
The service is intended to help residents dispose of large items that cannot be disposed of through typical trash pick-up or drop-off. Examples of accepted items include: furniture, carpets, mattresses and box springs, large plastic toys, pool covers, building demolition material, porcelain fixtures, concrete, bricks and asphalt. Roofing shingles, small pieces of wood, sheetrock and plaster must be in containers. Lumber, siding and other building demolition items must be cut to easily handled lengths and, if possible, bundled. Items not accepted include, but not only, large metal appliances, gas grills, bicycles, lawn mowers, exercise machines, tires, lawn and garden waste, electronics, household hazardous waste, and regular household trash and recyclables.
More details about fees and items accepted, and not accepted can be found by visiting the Town website (www.barretown.org) homepage and using the link in an announcement. Salvaging is permitted. Items the volunteer workers think might be re-used are placed outside the DPW Yard fence for anyone to look through and take. For more information call the Town Manager's Office (479-9331) or email - offices@barretown.org.
