Interested in helping to welcome Castleton University's international students to the community?

You are invited to the inaugural meeting of the Friends of Castleton International Students, a new organization dedicated to providing opportunities for Castleton University international students to get to know local residents, families, the community and culture. Please come if you have any interest in getting to know Castleton students from all over the world and providing a warm welcome to them in Castleton.

This year Castleton University gained 44 new international students, joining returning international students and new Americans from dozens of countries, including Kosovo, Algeria, Pakistan, Spain, Japan, Sierra Leone, Lithuania, India, Norway, Italy and Ghana. Getting to know them opens up the world to Castleton students and the community. How can we make them feel welcome and what can we offer as far as opportunities to experience local homes, daily life, special events and holidays, and Vermont's beauty and culture?

Proposed schedule:
6:30 Light refreshments and mingling with new international students
6:45 Introductions
7:00 International student mentors briefly speak about
--what they would find helpful from the local community
--what they would welcome as far as host family contact/support
7:15 Potential Friends fill out a survey about their interests and availability
7:30 More mingling and conversation
