CANCELLED: New Haven Community Pollinator Garden

Past event
Sep 17, 2022, 10 to 11 AM

New Haven Community Pollinator Garden-Bee Friendly to the Pollinators and PPAC (Pollinator Pathway of Addison County)
When: Sept 17th from 10 am to 11am
Where: * change in address* We won't meet at the New Haven Congregational Church
Please meet us at the Swartzentruber home,
212 East Street, New Haven
What: We will focus on Hugelkultur which is German for mound culture. Instead of big burn piles you can use your extra wood to improve your garden beds. We have been experimenting with this technique for 5 years and love the results.
Who: Everyone is welcome
Why: Instead of burning cuttings and logs and releasing carbon in the air, you can build a Hugel mound where the nutrients will slowly break down while releasing nutrients that your garden plants can use. The mounds also aid in keeping crops healthy in extreme weather: both too much rain or too little. The mounds are also used by some pollinators as overwintering sites.
