Organist Lynnette Combs is celebrating forty years of playing organs in Vermont with a series of recitals in churches where she has worked since arriving here in 1981. Currently organist and choirmaster at Christ Episcopal Church in Barre, she served the Universalist Church of Barre between 1988 and 2009, where she will perform on Sunday, September 11 at 4 PM. Admission is by donations, which will benefit the Governor's Institute of the Arts, which holds summer camps for high school students.
Ms. Combs' recitals will include pieces with special connections to the organs on which she will perform, including the 1978 neo-Baroque organ built by the Berkshire Organ Company at Barre's First Church, Universalist. Three compositions written especially for Ms. Combs will be included on the program.
In addition to the Barre performance, which begins Ms. Combs' series on Sept. 11, the other concerts are:
Friday, Sept. 16, 7 PM, First Baptist Church, Burlington
Sunday, Sept. 18, 4 PM, Christ Episcopal Church, Montpelier
Sunday, Sept. 25, 4 PM, United Methodist Church, Middlebury
