Hi, I serve on the board for the Vermont run non-profit, People Helping People Global. For the last 13 years our organization has been supporting economic development projects in Nicaragua. We also help support a project to build homes for those in need in the Dominican Republic.
Its almost time for our annual fundraiser race, the Brain Freezer 5K. Its a 5K with a twist: halfway through the race you stop and eat a pint of Vermont-made ice cream. Participants can either sign up as a competitor or a fun runner. Competitors must eat the entire pint of ice cream, while fun runners can nibble away at their own leisure.
The race is September 17th at 10am. It starts and ends in Battery Park in downtown Burlington. Racers will run along the bike path to North Beach for the ice cream stop then return to battery park for the finish, music and prizes.
Prizes will be given out for best time, best costume and best team costumes.
