Hi Everyone,

John and I (teachers at Woodbury Strings) have had wonderful first season at our new studio at 12 North Street after more than two decades teaching in Central Vermont. Thanks to all of you from the neighborhood who are now taking lessons with us! Going into the summer we have some openings for fiddle (age 3 & up), banjo (age 5 & up), guitar and mandolin (5th grade and up). Fiddles are available for rental at the Burlington Violin Shop, and I have a limited number of child size banjos (and one full size) that I rent to my private students. We could make a guitar, fiddle, banjo, or mandolin available for a first lesson, too, just to try out before commiting to further lessons. Summer is a great time to try out an instrument! We'll work around your vacations. I also have two openings at my Richmond location on Monday afternoons. We are offering a July/August special discount for new students: first half hour free and second lesson discounted.

I also want to let everyone know that we are hosting a "Slow Jam" for acoustic string players on July 11th from 7 - 9 pm at the Northend Studios on 294 No. Winooski Ave, Studio B. This is a great opportunity to meet other folks to make music with, and to learn tunes that are being played at a slow speed to facilitate learning by ear. We'll be playing fiddle tunes from North America and Europe and John and I will offer coaching on chord progressions and melodies as needed. $5 suggested donation to help us cover the rent.
