Past event
Sep 26, 2022, 3 to 6 PM

Brattleboro Area Hospice will hold an 8-week training for new Bereavement Volunteers on Mondays, 3-6 pm, Sept. 26 – Nov. 14, in person at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Brattleboro. This is a chance to be trained and work as a bereavement volunteer for one of the most compassionate and caring organizations in Windham County. Bereavement Volunteers provide emotional support and companionship to individuals grieving the death loss of a loved one.

"After the sudden death of our 32-year-old son, Alan, BAH provided our family with crucial support. My husband and I joined the Parent Loss of Adult Child Support Group . . . I was so moved by the power of this group that I wanted to give back to others what had been provided to our family, so I took the training to become a Bereavement Volunteer: I find meaning in being present for others." Judy van Wageningen, volunteer

Applications for the training are being accepted until September 19th. An online fillable application is available at www.brattleborohospice.org or you can contact the office to receive one by email or USPS, 802-257-0775, info@brattleborohospice.org. No experience is needed and space is limited. Cost for the training is $40 for materials. Once they have completed the training, volunteers are expected to commit to one hour per week spent with a bereaved individual. For more information, please contact Lars Hunter, Bereavement Program Coordinator, at (802) 257-0775 x104, or lars.hunter@brattleborohospice.org.
