Hello neighbors, I want to share news of a great concert coming up this weekend in Waterbury. This Saturday Waterbury Congregational Church welcomes Patti Casey to “Music @ the Meeting House” at 6:00 p.m. Ms. Casey is a nationally-heralded folk musician and singer-songwriter who has perfected her own broad-reaching and distinctively New England-flavored style. Robert Resnik, of Seven Days, says “Casey has a voice that evokes sweet shivers.” Her music ranges in genre from bluegrass, to Quebecois, to “aisle swayin’-hand clappin’ gospel” to tender, insightful songs of love.

The evening will feature a set by Ms. Casey as well as an opportunity for open-mic performances by local amateur performers. It is designed to be an open, welcoming and friendly evening where audience and performers of all ages can celebrate the joy of making, sharing, and listening to music. Donations are welcome but not required and light refreshments are served.

A Vermont native, Ms. Casey grew up in a musical family and still thrives in the bustle and business of creativity and collaboration – including the Woods Tea Company. Additionally, Ms. Casey has recorded five solo albums. Vermont Public Radio declared of Casey’s work: "the sweetest voice and some of the finest songwriting to come out of Vermont.”

The Boston Herald describes her as a "north-country artist of mature, subtle lyricism.” Ms. Casey describes her music this way: “honest tales of everyday life and quirky looks at life’s intimate details.”

Ms. Casey has traveled around the country to perform her songs; has appeared live on "A Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor; and won numerous songwriting competitions from Texas’s prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk songwriter's Competition to the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at the legendary Merlefest in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. She travels nationally with Shady Rill. You can find more on her website: www.patticasey.com.

This is the final spring installation of the Music @ the Meeting House series before our summer recess. The Music @ the Meeting House series is a monthly concert-and-open-mic evening hosted by Waterbury Congregational Church. Loosely built around a cabaret-style, the acoustics are great, the audience is friendly, and the music is, well, divine. For more information please call the church at 802-244-6606.
