Come to the Moretown Freshies Farmers' Market, June 18th at 3:30pm

Hello Everyone,

The weather last week was a big challenge for the Moretown Freshies Farmers' Market vendor and customers, and I hope we'll have better luck this week with Mother Nature. I was sorry not to attend the market, due to the wet and cold, but we sure did need the rain. Jenna and Karen both braved the weather for a while last week, and I am grateful to them for their persistence and tenacity.

While we were scrambling at the last minute, trying to decide whether or not to cancel the market last week, I wondered if it would be helpful to some people to get notified if there was a last minute change to the market schedule. If you would like to receive notices about the market schedule, please give me your full name, email address and/or mobile phone number. I will create a list and send out an email or text message in the hope of saving someone the trouble of coming to the market when we have had to cancel.

The core market vendors will be on site again this Wednesday, June 18th at the Moretown School from 3:30 to 6:30. Jenna continues to offer her beautiful and hardy annual and perennial veggie and flower plants. Come check out her table to fill in those empty spots in your vegetable gardens, flower gardens or on a sunny window sill.

Karen will have her wonderful Mountain Woman and Mountain Man bars, maple syrup, eggs and herbs. She always has lots of samples of her bars, and if you haven't tried a Mountain Woman bar, slathered with coconut oil, I hope you will sometime soon.

My daughter, Sofya, will have chocolate chip cookie bars. We had fun making them with her best friend last week, and when the weather was bad, we had fun wrapping them and freezing them for this week's market. She used primarily organic ingredients in these bars and is excited to sell them to the community. Stop by her table for a sample and to say hello if you can.

I hope we'll have Constancia or Kevin from Lalu farm and their awesome goat cheese and eggs and her friend's honey.

I'll have kimchi, Celtic Kraut, Harvest Roots and Sofya's Sauerkraut this week, and the next batch of the very popular Curried Kraut is under way. I'll also have kombucha available by the glass, kombucha starter kits, and eggs from our beloved chickens who graze and eat fermented organic grain.

Our latest fermentation adventure here in Moretown is raising our own pigs! Not only do we feed them fermented grain, whey, whole eggs (shell and all, scrambled in coconut oil) and kefir, but we may attempt to ferment or cure some of their meat in the fall. Keeping pigs is fun and a ton of work and learning, so I'm trying to balance my curiosity and enthusiasm with sensibility and reason.

I look forward to seeing you at the market and learning more about your latest adventures. Please send me your email address or mobile number if you'd like to receive market schedule updates, and thank you for your continued interest and support.

Be well,
