The Hardwick Conservation Commission invites everyone to a Butterfly Tagging Workshop on Saturday, September 10 at 11:00 am at the Atkins Field Pavilion.

"Where were you in 1975?" This question is posed by Hardwick's butterfly aficionado Jerry Schneider. His answer is "That's the year of the great Monarch butterfly discovery in the neovolcanic mountains of Mexico. If it weren't for the tagging project initiated by Dr. Fred Urquhart and his wife Norah, who knows when anyone (except the locals) would have known where Monarchs go in the winter?"

"How in the world did those tags ever stay on, all the way to Mexico?" Jerry has answers in his talk about the history of tagging butterflies and the evolution of the sticky tags themselves.

All who attend will have the opportunity to engage in a tag-and-release event. Monarchs and tags will be on hand.
