MRPS - Roxbury Late Bus + Aug. 24 Board Meeting at MHS

Past event
Aug 24, 2022, 6:30 to 8:30 PM

Hello Roxbury Community!

Two Montpelier Roxbury Public Schools (MRPS) updates for you below: (1) New 2022-23 after school activities late bus and (2) MRPS School Board Meeting on Wednesday, 8/24.

(1) Late Bus

On June 15th, the Montpelier Roxbury Public School Board of Directors passed a motion to create an after school activities late bus to reduce transportation barriers for students who would like to participate in extracurricular clubs and athletics. Click the link below to see all MRPS's 22-23 bus schedules including the late bus schedule:

The late bus will transport students from MHS and MSMS to different parts of Montpelier and to a convenient pick up location for Roxbury families in the evening (South Village Mobil, Northfield). We hope this resource will help improve access to extracurricular opportunities by MRPS students living in Roxbury. If you have feedback or questions about this new option, please email your Roxbury school board reps, Kristen Getler (kristengetler@mpsvt.org ) and Rhett Williams (rhettwilliams@mpsvt.org ).

(2) MRPS School Board Meeting, Wednesday, 8/24 @ 6:30pm @ Montpelier High School

There is a Montpelier-Roxbury Board of School Directors meeting this Wednesday, August 24th, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Montpelier High School library or you can participate virtually via Zoom.

The August 24th meeting agenda and meeting documents can be found at:
https://www.mrpsvt.org/2022-agenda-meeting-documents/tag/08-24-2022

*The Zoom link is in the agenda.* Board meetings always begin with a public comment opportunity at 6:30 pm.; public comments can be made whether you attend in-person or virtually.

At this week's meeting, the MRPS Board will receive a presentation on the District-Wide Visioning Project. The board's Visioning Committee has conducted months of public engagement to help define a district vision and set of values that will define board work and district priorities for the coming years. This has been a massive undertaking; we're grateful to all the Visioning Committee members and to all Roxbury residents that completed surveys and showed up to community events and shared their thoughts!

The Board will also kick-off budget season discussing a timeline, community input planning, and preliminary priorities for budget

Lastly, the Board will review and have the opportunity to approve monitoring reports from our Superintendent that address the following policy:
Policy F15 on Student Attendance

Please consider attending or tuning into our meeting. Reach out to your MRPS Roxbury School Board Directors any time!

Kristen Getler (kristengetler@mpsvt.org)
Rhett Williams (rhettwilliams@mpsvt.org)

Best,

Kristen and Rhett
