The Dam Aid Concert Series continues with The Barn Band - this Saturday, August 27th from 4-6pm. The Barn Band, featuring VPR's Bob Kinzel, plays an eclectic mix of folk, rock, country, bluegrass and gospel tunes. They cover many artists including Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Jesse Winchester, Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, Del McCoury, the Grateful Dead, Sturgill Simpson and more! This show is being hosted at the beautiful home of Iris Wechling & Richard Maizell, 1640 W. County Rd.
While all our shows are weather dependent, for this one the band has a bit of shelter so will go ahead even in a light drizzle - though as of now the forecast is for gorgeous sunny skies! Come enjoy stunning views and wonderful music, while there take a stroll on a network of mowed walking paths, walk the Labyrinth, or even play a game of Croquet.
The next Dam Aid Concert will be Sunday, September 11th, from 4-6pm, and will be hosted by Barbara Butler at 40 N. Calais Road in North Calais. This show will feature Folk Talk Trio: International folk troubadour Rik Palieri, CMA award-winning California songwriter and singer Patti Shannon and Vermont-based topical Americana songwriter Jason Baker have joined together to create a high energy show filled with the sound of 6 & 12 string guitars, banjo, harmonica, mandolin and Native American flute on some folk classics while accompanying each other on their original songs. Together they create a fun atmosphere that celebrates folk traditions and encourages audience participation.
We hope to have one last event in this wonderful summer music series during the Calais Fall Foliage Festival (October 7-9) - stay tuned! Want to play a Dam Aid concert? Have questions about the project? Ready to donate? Visit www.curtispond.org or email curtispondcalais@gmail.com
