The historic Old Round Church in Richmond is a great venue to hear choral music and that's why Social Band will return to this special place this August to make music, revel in some poetry and encourage everyone to sing along.
This summer, Social Band will sing its mix of early music, exuberant shape-noted tunes, and
contemporary pieces, including newly-written songs by Social Band members and composers
extraordinaire, Don Jamison and Michael Kellogg (aka Clyde Powers). Please share an hour with us
as we pay homage to summer in this charmed setting with songs old and new.
Unfamiliar with Social Band? This Burlington-based chorus performs a cappella choral music,
encourages new compositions especially by local composers, and fosters the joyful and thought-
provoking expression of music. Social Band organizes its programs around themes, weaving poetry
and song to create an experience that feeds listeners' hearts and heads. And, while we take the
power of music very seriously, we tend to take ourselves a little less so, bringing a sense of
exuberance and fun to our singing.
