Introduction to Natural Dyeing - Fire and Ice

This one day class will be an exploration of natural dyeing using local flowers and leaves. Participants will learn how to eco print silk scarfs with steam and ice dyeing cotton fabric.

Students will be given a list of possible plant material they can possibly pick from their own gardens. We may also forage for plants during class. Discussion will include mordants, dye methods, and much more. Printed information will be included.

No experience necessary/ All levels welcome.

Materials provided: silk scarf, cotton, plant materials. Students are suggested to bring an apron (or wear old clothes)and rubber gloves.
