Book Discussion Group of "Stolen Focus: Why You Can't Pay Attention and How to Think Deeply Again" by Johann Hari published Jan. 2022.
In his new book (January, 2022), "Stolen Focus", Johann Hari artfully explores in a comprehensive and captivating manner one of the most pressing problems today. Let's face it – most of us have a hard time focusing. What we pay attention to is what comprises our life and is our reality. It's one of the most important and intriguing volumes I've read in recent years. The author shares in a sometimes-humorous style, his own journey of recognizing his inability to focus, his addiction to media and devices, his personal efforts and experiments to free himself (including 3 months on Cape Cod without a phone or internet!) and his many aha moments as he puts the pieces of the puzzle together. He looks not just at the individual level, but also at the systemic causes. Hari interviewed more than 200 experts from around the globe. It's both a hopeful and a challenging book.
You're invited to read "Stolen Focus", or if You don't have time to read the whole thing, You're invited to watch a YouTube interview of Johann Hari -- there are many. You might also find it helpful to watch one the interviews of Hari concerning the book that You can find on-line including: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCkd7daaij4 (about 16 minutes) and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFi2NkFJghI (about an hour). Join us for this discussion to share our experiences and support each other in taking back our lives.
