Toussaint St. Negritude's improvisational poetry and music will be performed at the WUCC Village Meeting House on Saturday, August 20 at 6:30 pm. St. Negritude's performance will reflect and be in conversation with the artshow "Courage, Hope and Justice: The Inclusive Paintings of Janet McKenzie."

Former Poet Laureate of Belfast, Maine, poet, bass clarinetist, and composer St. Negritude conjures whole liberations in full tempo. Originally from San Francisco, he has lived and broadly thrived across the African Diaspora, from the sacred mountains of Haiti to the Coltrane District of North Philadelphia. Afrofuturist Toussaint St. Negritude dually conjures the lyric timbre of both his horn and verse, creating his own collaborative ceremony of empathic wonders. Black, queer, artist, mountaineer, devout congregant of the wilderness, Toussaint St. Negritude honors his multiplicity of freedoms quite seriously.

This is a special opportunity to experience music, poetry and art, whose deepest subject which threads throughout is our universal humanity.
