The Essex Jericho Underhill Ecumenical Ministry Food Shelf will hold the monthly food distribution on Saturday August 20 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Route 15, Jericho. The Food Shelf, sponsored by 11 local churches, is open to all in need. If this will be your first visit, please bring a piece of identification. Pre-bagged food will be distributed outside, with tables holding a choice of extra items and pet food., weather permitting.

Thanks this month to local gardeners and Jericho Settlers Farm for fresh produce, Sowing Roots Farm for frozen chicken, UVM Medical Center Nutrition Services and the Lions Club and Dollar Store for food drives, and to the many community members who volunteer time and effort to provide food for 50-70 families each month. If you would like to donate food, look for labeled bins in the Jericho Market, Price Chopper- Essex and Hannaford -Essex. There is an ongoing need for pasta sauce, peanut butter, canned tuna, chicken and fruit, and ready to eat meals like chili and ravioli. Garden produce can be dropped off at the church between 8 and 9 am this Saturday or by prior arrangement.
