Join Hancock poet, Margi Rogal and friends for a reading from her new book of poetry, Field Notes, published by North Dakota State University Press.
Field Notes is inspired by the journals of Rogal's grandfather, Robert Silliman Judd, who roamed the North Dakota prairie for 6 months, observing and collecting birds during the great spring migration in 1909. When decades later, Margi discovered his notebooks filled with detailed records of birds, nests, and eggs she selected notes from his journal and used them as the inspiration for a poem. The original notes and her corresponding poem are published together on facing pages.
The reading will be held on the Park in Rochester across the street from the Rochester Public Library. Bring a lawn chair and join us on the covered Bandstand rain or shine.
This program is sponsored by Sandy's Books & Bakery, The Bookery, and the Rochester Public Library.
