Friday, June 20th from 5-7pm the Chaffee Downtown at 75 Merchants Row will host the opening reception for Pulsation Exhibit featuring sculptors Pat Musick and Eric David Laxman. Wine and Tapas will be served.
Pat Musick has been making art since she was four years old. “Using my hands to create artwork is a privilege and a joy. If the art has a sense of peace...a zen feeling, then I have succeeded in my desire to make work that is harmonious and whole.”
She received her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from Cornell University and a Post-Doctoral Study at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Her work has been collected by Museum for their Permanent Collections and has had permanent public installations throughout the United States. She has been the recipient of a number of awards throughout her career and most recently was awarded the Vermont State Governor’s Gallery Honoree in 2013.
Eric David Laxman received a B.S. in Chemistry at Tufts University before studying at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Studio Diploma program. He has exhibited, installed and competed in sculpture competitions across the United States.
“Artist Eric David Laxman sculpts substantial and elegant pieces. His chosen materials are metal and stone. He takes those raw composites and energetically transforms them into something at once very real and highly conceptual. When he’s pulling out of steel or marble its core character, his intensity is almost primal.”
