New Play Performance by St. Johnsbury Players; Dora

Past event
Aug 5, 7 AM to 9:15 AM, Aug 7, 2022

Come join us for a fun performance of a brand new play by local playwright, Janet Warner-Ashley presented outdoors (if weather permits) or inside the United Congregational Church, UCC on Main St. in St. Johnsbury; Friday and Saturday, August 5th and 6th at 7 pm and Sunday, August 7th at 2 pm. Admission is by donation and there will be a 50/50 raffle to benefit the Clark Noyes Award presented to a graduating senior each year interested in theatre.

The play, "Dora", is about a young woman in 1915 who has some difficult news to share with her family. The Peckhams are a fun and funny family in Little Compton, Rhode Island but they might as well be from Peacham. Come hear such favorite songs as "Little Brown Jug" and "Beautiful Dreamer". Laugh as the family teases each other about the day Uncle Harry walked into the horse pond to cool off when his wife Lillian got him hot and bothered, or the night Uncle James had to sleep in the chicken coop because he didn't appreciate his wife Sara's new nightie! What kind of hooch does Elmer share with his friends in the barn? Will Emma take the contract she was offered at the barn dance to go be an exotic dancer in New York City? Find out the answers to these burning questions and more this weekend.
