Thursday Evening Chamber Music, Plus Free Kids' Concert

The Craftsbury Chamber Players season continues this Thursday, August 4 at 7:30 at the Hardwick Town House, with a program of Italian chamber music. The program includes a cello sonata by Antonio Vivaldi, featuring an accompaniment updated in the 1950s for the modern piano by Luigi Dalapiccola; a string trio from 1950 by Mario Castelnuevo-Tedesco (best known for his work as a film composer); and an epic quintet for piano and string quartet by conductor, composer, teacher and pianist Giovanni Sgambati, composed in 1866. Performers are Marcantonio Barone, piano; Adria Benjamin, viola; Jenifer Gersten, violin; Marka Gustavsson, viola; Mimi Hwang, cello; Frances Rowell, cello; Mary Rowell, violin; and Wendy Sharp, violin. There is a pre-concert chat featuring one of the artists at 6:45.

There is a FREE mini concert for our youngest chamber music lovers at East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church at 2 pm. The program features excerpts from the evening concert.
