Lucas Whitaker, a Hazen Union student, spent the last year abroad in Bulgaria on the behalf of the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES Abroad). He will be sharing the importance of studying abroad along with resources for high school students and recent high school graduates. Whitaker will share his experiences in Bulgaria, including why he went to Bulgaria, what he did there, what it was like living with a host family, and some personal stories/experiences. Whitaker will be teaching people about Bulgarian culture including language, history, clothing, education systems, food, and more. Everyone who comes is welcome to try a traditional Bulgarian sandwich (which is more of a snack- bread with a Bulgarian spread topped with Bulgarian cheese). Whitaker will bring his scrapbook along with other Bulgarian mementos to share with everyone who comes and will be more than happy to answer any questions about Bulgaria, his experiences, and studying abroad (and how to do so).
