Training Matters LLC in West Brattleboro will be hosting Helen St. Pierre, CPDT-KA, CDBC, to talk about providing hospice care to senior and special needs dogs. Helen, who owns No Monkey Business Dog Training in Concord, N.H., runs Old Dogs Go To Helen, a nonprofit through which she brings senior and special needs dogs into her home, providing them with love and care until they pass. A trainer for 19 years, Helen had taken in needy foster dogs for many years before founding her nonprofit, which has garnered a lot of attention on social media. The talk will focus on providing hospice and palliative care: what to expect, how to introduce new dogs to resident dogs, how to know when to say goodbye, the types of goodbye, and how to talk to children about the types of issues that arise.
