We are looking for volunteers!

Cheryl Shea and I are organizing a 3-hour community WEED OUT event along Main Street on Sunday August 7th from 9am to 12 noon. (The 15th would be our fallback date if it rains or if most folks can't make the 7th). We need at least 20 volunteers so that we can disperse groups to each of the 3 blocks and do a major blitz.

Vergennes Main St. It is so charming and everyone has worked so hard to plant street corners, etc. However, we feel that the massive amount of weeds growing up through all the sidewalks and gardens in front of the stores, etc. are really making the town look shaggy and unkempt. Some shop owners tend to areas in front of their stores,, but many can't or don't. With so many people come to visit our town, we don't think our current appearance gives the best impression to tourists and residents alike.

Let's make it a fun community event. We'll set up the staging area in he Green, with coffee, pastries and plenty of cold water to refill your bottles. All you need to bring are gloves if you want, a pail, and any tools you like to use for weeding. If we assign groups to each block, We bet we can get the Main Street looking pretty darn good in a relatively short time. We still have some summer and tourist season left, so sooner would be better.
