Mark your calendars for the fall startup of Contemporary square dance lessons in Pittsford. These will again be offered through the Pittsford Recreation sponsorship of the Cast Off 8's Square Dance Club. A square dance is a dance for four couples -eight dancers in total- arranged in a square, with one couple on each side, facing the middle of the square. Much different than the square dancing from grade school, contemporary square dance is danced to a variety of music types, including pop, traditional and contemporary country music, songs from Broadway musicals, rock, Motown, techno, and hip-hop. Dancers dress in casual clothes. A great way to get back out and socialize among friendly people after the pandemic. There will be free nights to try the activity on Wednesdays in September 14 and 21st, for no charge. Small fee once regular classes start on 9/28/22. Try it til Christmas and you'll come back for more! Lothrop School gymnasium. 7 p.m. For more info see www.Castoff8s.com or Facebook Cast Off 8's Square Dance Club.
