History Expo is a “country fair of history.” Held on the historic Tunbridge Fairgrounds, this year’s theme is Vermont Artists and Artisans. Over 100 town historical societies will present displays of their local history. Many of them will celebrate known and unknown local artists and craftsmen. Many museums in the state and interest groups like the Vermont Genealogical Society and the Central Vermont Railroad Society will also have exhibits, to an overall total of 147. In addition, there are reenactors from past wars, heritage animal breeds, Morgan horses, and music by many bands and singers. The Mount Independence Fife and Drum band leads the daily noon parade. Children are invited to play games based on the 1888 diary of Clara Doty of Tinmouth. She was 12 then, a student at Center School Number Six, still the elementary school in Tinmouth. For early evening entertainment on Saturday there will be a Base Ball game using 1880 rules.
History Expo runs from 10 to 5 Saturday and Sunday June 21-22. It is about an hour and fifteen minutes from Tinmouth, on Vt 110 about six miles north of South Royalton. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children, and $20 for a family weekend pass. Wear a vintage costume and it's half price/1
