The Bakersfield Town Democratic Committee will meet on Thursday August 4, 2022 at 6:30 pm. The group will meet on the town green (please bring a lawn chair); in case of rain, we will meet on the porch of the Town Hall. The purpose and sole agenda item is to nominate Democratic candidates for Justices of the Peace. The names of nominees appear on the November general election ballot.

Questions about what JPs do? The biggest part of the job is ensuring that voting is conducted -- and votes are counted -- fairly. JPs may also officiate at marriages. They additionally sit on the Board of Civil Authority to hear property tax assessment grievances. The Secretary of State's office has a downloadable guide to these responsibilities.
