Our fifth round of wild parsnip pulling will be this Saturday the 30th, 7:00pm, at the ball field next to the playground at Monkton Central School.
This will probably be the last session of parsnip pulling for the season and we'd like to clear as much as possible around the playing field at MCS. If we have 5 or 6 people on hand (typical for events this season) we'll make progress. If we get a dozen we might be able to clear all of it around the outfield.
Park in the lower lot at MCS and head down to the field. Usually we go for about 90 minutes, but you are free to come and go as needed.
What to wear/bring: long pants and sleeves are a must, along with gloves and sturdy boots/shoes (or other closed shoes). Hat, eye protection, & bug spray are recommended. If you have your own parsnip shovel, bring it along or almost any round point shovel will do. We will have some spare parsnip shovels to use. The weather looks good (probably low 70s and dropping at 7:00pm). Have some water with you and don't overdo it.
Newcomers to the project are welcome! No experience needed and we'll help you get started (takes just a couple minutes to get the idea of it). It is work, but not hard work. Easy to have a conversation or work on your own, as you like.
We hope to see you this Saturday, July 30th at 7:00pm!
