Guidelines for Donating Books and Media to the Friends of the Moore Free Library
We greatly appreciate your donation of books and media. You can help us by following these Donation Guidelines. Donations are accepted with the understanding that they may be discarded, given away, or sold for fundraising.
We will accept donations at the following times:
Tuesday, July 26, 9 am to noon
Monday, August 1, 4 pm to 6 pm
Saturday, August 6, 9 am to noon
Donations will be reviewed as you wait, so that you can find another home for the items we cannot take. We cannot dispose of items for you. Please do not leave items on the porch of the Library.
All items donated must be clean and in good condition. The Test – would you buy it again yourself?!
We do not accept the following:
Books that are damaged: missing, stained, or torn pages; dirty, torn, detached covers;
broken spines and cracked bindings; chewed
Books from a smoke-filled atmosphere (fire smoke or cigarette/cigar smoke)
Books with mold or mildew
Incomplete sets of multi-volume works
There are certain categories that we do not accept:
Blank books and journals
Bibles, missals, prayer books
Cassette tapes
Computer and technical manuals
Magazines and periodicals
Readers' Digest Books
Records
Reference books (e.g. almanacs, atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias, quotation books,
thesauruses)
Self-help books
Textbooks (including "for Dummies")
Travel, restaurant, hotel guides more than 2 years old
VCR tapes
Workbooks, completed (crosswords, sudoku)
