Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Drop by Authentica Gallery on Saturday mornings from 10 am - 12 noon to view the City of Hope poster exhibit, look through a selection of wonderful books, and enjoy the air conditioning!
City of Hope: Resurrection City and the 1968 Poor People's Campaign is part of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service's poster series developed in collaboration with the National Museum of African American History and Culture. In the Clemmons Family Farm's Authentica Art Gallery, we have included additional curations to supplement the posters.
This multi-media exhibit honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s daring vision for economic justice and opportunity for every U.S. citizen.
Twenty posters, videos and audio collections document the 1968 Poor People's Campaign—a grassroots, multiracial movement that drew thousands of people to Washington, D.C. For 43 days between May and June 1968, demonstrators demanded social reforms while living side-by-side on the National Mall in a tent city known as Resurrection City.
The exhibit will be open for viewing on Saturdays from 10 AM - 12 NOON. Come see what books we selected for you to and look through the beautiful photos of African art and cultures! Our selection of books changes each week! Children's books (K-4) are always available in the treasure chest!
