Featuring stunning footage from seven winters in the Arctic, People of a Feather takes you through time into the world of the Inuit on the Belcher Islands in Canada's Hudson Bay. Connecting past, present and future is a unique relationship with the eider duck. Eider down, the warmest feather in the world, allows both Inuit and bird to survive harsh Arctic winters. Traditional life is juxtaposed with modern challenges as both Inuit and eiders confront changing sea ice and ocean currents disrupted by the massive hydroelectric dams powering New York and eastern North America. Inspired by Inuit ingenuity and the technology of a simple feather, the film is a call to action to implement energy solutions that work with nature.

Learn about the Inuit people, their habitat, culture and life today. Their wisdom and knowledge of the Arctic and the effects of Climate Change is deep and profound. The film details yet another way that Hydro-Quebec is negatively impacting indigenous people, the microenvironment in which they live and even the flow of major ocean currents in both the Arctic and Atlantic oceans. An example of how indigenous wisdom and knowledge can intersect and supplement the science of Climate Change.

Earl Hatley of Cherokee, Shawnee and Abenaki heritage will be present to offer his perspective and reaction to this film. Earl lives in Quechee and is active is multiple indigenous organizations working to counteract the harm done by injustice to indigenous peoples, both in the US and internationally.

The film series is brought to you by The Vermont Social Justice Festival (Chandler Music Hall) in collaboration with the Playhouse Theater in Randolph, Vermont.

If you haven't been able to see the first two films in this series, you absolutely must see PEOPLE OF A FEATHER. You will go away in wonder and deep appreciation for the Inuit people and their 21st century adaptation to climate change.
