Crafting Herbal Tinctures, Vinegars, and Glycerites

Past event
Jul 23, 2022, 10:30 AM to 12 PM

Tinctures are a way to preserve, highlight, and cherish love in the form of plant medicine. These preparations are like shelf-stable bottles of liquid magic that can help us with everything from regulating our digestion to stimulating our immune system, calming our nervous system, and promoting vitality throughout our bodies. They are simply an infusion of plants into alcohol, vinegar, or vegetable glycerine to integrate their healing power and bring in vibrancy whenever we need it.

In this workshop, we will meet a variety of plants to support our bodies and create herbal tinctures with alcohol, vinegar, and vegetable glycerine. We will delve into why we use these different menstruums (solvents) to infuse particular medicines and how each of them offer their strengths when infused with different types of plants. We will explore recipes for an abundance of ages, dietary restrictions, and taste buds to ensure these medicines are pleasurable and accessible to all!

You will return home with some lovely plant relationships, a little bit of chemistry nerdiness, various recipes for potent preparations, and excitement for our tinctures to be ready at the end of our next moon cycle!

All ages are welcome to join this workshop. Please be mindful of the needs of your child in relation to sitting in a circle with lots of listening and some hands on activities when signing up! We will be walking on uneven ground in the farmyard to meet some plants while we are together - if you have an accessibility need please reach out to nvfbusinessoffice@gmail.com
