The Hero of Ticonderoga: How Ethan Allen Ended Up In A Middle Grade Novel About A Franco American Girl, Gail Gauthier

June 15th, 4:00 p.m., Ethan Allen Homestead, Burlington

Join us to hear how children’s author Gail Gauthier combined memories of her own childhood in Vermont with events from Ethan Allen’s life to create the ALA Notable Book, The Hero of Ticonderoga. Gauthier will talk about Allen’s troubles in late-Puritan Connecticut, his role as a voice for farmers in the New Hampshire Grants, and his captivity memoir.

Gail Gauthier has written eight books for children and young adults, all published by G. P. Putnam’s Sons. Her books have been published in foreign editions in Italy, Germany, France, and Japan and nominated for readers' choice awards in six states, including two nominations for Vermont’s Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont.
