Join Louella De Souza Anderson as she reads excerpts from her father's memoir, No Place For Me, chronicling the systemic racism and discrimination an Indian doctor experiences in 1950s East Africa, being that he is neither white in colonial times nor black in independent East Africa. Born in Tanganyika, educated in India, and trained in Britain as a surgeon, Dr. De Souza provides a sweeping tale of migration and racism as he recounts a 100 year-history that begins with his father's story in Tanganyika (German East Africa) and ends with Leo and his family fleeing Uganda for the United States, following Idi Amin's coup and campaign of terror. Books will be available for purchase, $20.
