This in-person afternoon intensive offers a unique opportunity for hands-on learning with four highly experienced herbal educators. Come connect with other plant lovers—and perhaps connect with plants in some new ways—in our beautiful garden setting at the VCIH Goddard Campus.
Admission includes four one-hour workshops, with time for breaks and garden strolls between each session.
Plant Stories and Plant Science with Julie Mitchell — Cultivating qualitative science and interpreting the language of plants. What does storytelling have to do with plant science? And what can we learn from our direct observations about plants—what we see, hear, smell, touch, and feel?
Meadow Medicinals with Betzy Bancroft — Join Betzy for an enjoyable stroll around the gardens and field edges to meet some of the abundant plant allies that can be safely used for a variety of common health needs. Includes identification as well as medicinal and edible uses.
Medicine-Making Demystified with Netta Mae Walsh — A practical primer on how to make your own effective herbal preparations. Using freshly harvested plants from the VCIH gardens, you'll get to observe every step of the process , take home your own herbal oxymel, and learn about making tinctures and infused honeys.
Exploring Plants through Scent and Smoke with Joann Darling — Using plants found in our apothecary gardens, we'll create personal smoke bundles. A beautiful and unusual way to bring the aromatic qualities of plants into daily life.
Ticket includes all 4 sessions. Registration closes Friday, July 22.
