Join us to learn about the Vermont beer revolution Tuesday, July 26th at 6:00 as Rochester Public Library presents the Vermont Humanities Council program From Homebrew to the House of Fermentology.
Bill Mares began making his own beer 45 years ago, when homebrewing was illegal and there were no microbreweries in America. Today there are over 7,000 nationally and Vermont has the highest per capita number of breweries in the country.
Mares is author of 19 books including "Making Beer", a former Vermont Public Radio commentator and state legislator who fathered Vermont's brewpub-enabling law in the 1980's. He serves on the boards of VT Digger, Vermont Brewers Association and Food4Farmers.
The evening had been originally planned to include the brewmaster at one of our local breweries and to offer tasting of their beers. However, the Select Board voted to not allow beer to be served on the park or at the library so this part of the evening's program has been canceled.
