After a two-year absence the Barre Lions Club Downtown Towdown returns to Barre Heritage Days on Saturday, July 30th at 9AM next to The Aldrich Public Library. Get your five-person team together and go for the glory! Your team can be all men, all women, or mixed. Thrill the spectators with your strength and agility as you pull a Bellavance 18-wheeler cab down the street. The fastest time wins, and each team gets several tries.
The 2019 champion Vermont Ravens will be there to defend their title. How about a matchup between the Barre City Council and Barre Town Selectboard? Are there any churches that want to show their strength? Is the State Champion Spaulding Baseball Team ready to give it a go? Are there any families that want to show their solidarity? Prizes donated by local merchants will be awarded.
We encourage pre-registration. Call Lion Rick Theken at (802) 479-9002 or email him at rcrcksr41@aol.com. Each team member will need to sign a waiver. Check-in begins at 8:15. We encourage you to wear gloves. There will also be a childrens' pull midway through the competition.
The Barre Lions Club, serving the community since 1938, provides glasses to members of the community who can't afford them. The Towdown is a fun way to thank the community for all their support.
