Wild Mushroom Foray - Focus on Cordyceps

Past event
Jul 16, 2022, 8 to 11 AM

Hi Neighbors,

I'm hosting another wild mushroom foray, this week our focus will be the entomopathogenic fungi, Cordyceps militaris. The elusive Cheeto of the Woods has been harvested and utilized by humans for thousands of years. It's ability to boost physical performance, anti-aging properties, inflammation control and so much more have elevated Cordyceps in the medicinal mushroom world.

This fungus grows from insect larvae, infecting it's host and controlling it's central nervous system. The zombie larvae are then at the disposal of the fungus, forced to crawl to an area that will be beneficial for the fruiting of the mushroom. It's one of the coolest, most thought provoking processes in nature and I can't wait to unearth the magic of these lil mummies with all of you this Saturday!

We will be meeting at the Sterling Pond Trail parking lot at 8am rain or shine, $40 for adults, $10 for kids and as always kids are free. Please respond to me here or at foragerssupply@gmail.com to reserve your spot for this weekends foray.
