GUCC Book Discussions continue with a new book in July, "Unsettling Truths: The Ongoing Dehumanizing Legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery" by Mark Charles and Soong Chan-Rah. The authors dive deep into the far reaching, damaging effects of the "Doctrine of Discovery", a doctrine given to Christian explorers in the fifteenth century and institutionalized into our national framework, justifying American triumphalism and ongoing injustices. As the publisher states, healing begins when deeply entrenched beliefs are unsettled.
We'll be discussing the book over four Thursdays, meeting in the Fellowship Hall at 10:30 am. Starting July 14 through August 4. Join us!
