Cog Railway History Talk and Slideshow Wednesday at GFL

Past event
Jul 6, 2022, 4 to 5:30 PM

Tim Lewis, author and professor of journalism at Northern Vermont University, is the son of railroad engineer Norman "Jitney" Lewis of the Mount Washington Cog Railway. He will present the 152 -year history of Mount Washington's cog railway and its employees in an illustrated talk under our backyard tent at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6.

Lewis began work on a project looking into the history of the Railway in 1962 with the help of "Jitney" who was then working on the mountain. The two spent the last years of Jitney's life working on a memoir about the Railway.

We hope you'll join us for this talk and also check out some of our railroad and train books, now on display in the gallery.
