Peaceful Protest for Reproductive Rights - July 3

Past event
Jul 3, 2022, 1 to 6 PM

July 3rd, on the Supreme Court Lawn in Montpelier, VT- In lieu of celebrating a country whose highest court has and continues to roll back basic human rights, we will be peacefully protesting the overturning of Roe V. Wade and advocating for the state and federal codification of reproductive rights for all people in this country.

We will be advocating for:
the federal codification of Roe V. Wade
Vermont's Prop 5, "to amend the Constitution of the State of Vermont to ensure that every Vermonter is afforded personal reproductive liberty"
And the State of Vermont to establish a Safe Haven initiative.

We will also use this as a space and time for people to talk about their experience, provide support to one another, and to discuss direct actions that we can take right now to help others and to push for change.

Schedule:
1:00pm-2:00pm
Vermont Supreme Court Lawn (111 State Street, Montpelier- between the State House and the Historical Society).
Speakers
Tent with information on how and where to take action

2:00pm-5:00pm
Vermont Supreme Court Building
Protesting, advocating, supporting, and discussing direct action

6:00pm
We have a spot to walk in the Parade, please come to show your support or join in!

We want to make sure that all voices are present, honored, and valued as we understand that this ruling disproportionately affects people who are already marginalized.

We are sorry for such late notice, we are just random people who sent out some texts to friends a few days ago, word spread much more quickly and widely than we had anticipated so we are learning how to organize as we go.

We hope youll spread the word and join us!!
