ENSURE A SPECTACULAR
BROWNSVILLE INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION !
"OUR HILLS ARE ALIVE!" is the theme of the GRAND 2022 Brownsville Independence Day Celebrations on July 2nd, 3rd & 4th.
The hills come alive in Brownsville starting on July 2 at 1:00 at Ascutney Outdoors, where the Weston Theater Company will present their wacky & magical production "SHREK the Musical".
The evening of July 3 from 6:00 until about 9:00 on the slopes of Mt. Ascutney there will be an array of delights for all.
On the mountain that evening will be Moonlighters Snowmobile Club serving up all-time favorite hot dogs, hamburgers and fries, Wicked Awesome BBQ will provide finger-lickin' good barbeque and sides. The Lazy Cow will be there to top off your meal with their delectable ice cream concoctions.
Streaming into the night will be the music of the Fire House Dixie Land Band. At dusk, the most spectacular fireworks display to date, will be staged once again by professional pyrotechnic company, Vermont Fireworks Co., Inc. DBA Northstar Fireworks Displays.
Come back to town the next morning where the Brownsville Community Church will be serving an abundant buffet breakfast which can be enjoyed indoors or in the new Tribute Park Pavilion.
The church's Outreach volunteers will have a Bouncy House set up for young and young-at-heart to enjoy.
Folks can then wander over to the Town Hall where, inside, they will find vendors selling their wares including such edibles as jams and peppers and items such as wooden wares and jewelry. Also inside there will be various local groups. Friends of the Library will be offering book bags, tumblers, free books and a raffle. West Windsor Historical Society will have local historical information, promotional items and a quilt raffle. The Sustainability Committee and Aging in Place will be there to offer information and answer questions.
Back outside of Town Hall there will be the aroma of luscious foods cooking on grills and in a wood fired oven. At that point, an appetite for lunch might be churning. The Moonlighters came off the mountain to serve their grilled goodies and American Pie will be offering an array of toppings on their wood-fired pizzas. The Fast Squad will be mixing up fruit slurpies and music will entertain throughout the day.
For dessert, wander on over to the West Windsor Historical Society to enjoy their Ice Cream Social and quilt raffle from 11:00 until 1:00. Visitors to the Grange Hall are invited to make their own Sundaes, have a cup of coffee, buy a raffle ticket and hang out before the parade.
Be sure to come back into the village by 1:30 when the Grand Independence Day Parade will start down the hill on Brownsville Hartland Road. There will be decorated floats, Shriner's Clowns antics in their little "trykes", great big fire trucks from all over the region, antique cars, proud marchers and a surprise or two as well. A $100 prize will be awarded for each float category - most Patriotic, most Humorous and most "On Theme". There is also a fire truck award being given by the West Windsor Volunteer Fire Department.
