Brooklyn Circle Band at Taps and Tacos

Brooklyn Circle , a four, occasionally three-piece band actually from Brooklyn, NY, will be be playing at Taps and Tacos on Main Street this Friday at 8 or whenever they actually start playing. They played at T&T in Mid April, and for those who had never heard them, especially the local musicians in attendance, it was a transformative experience.

I am assured all four will be playing, including Stacy Dillard on tenor and soprano Sax. As an occasionally good sax player myself, I have to say that I don't even aspire to his level of musicianship and command of the instrument. The whole group - Stacy Dillard on sax, Diallo House on bass, Ismail Lawal on drums, Michael Lewis Smith on Guitar - is that good, and they have been playing together for something like 12 or 15 years.

Brooklyn Circle calls Vermont their second home, and plays around the area regularly.

Closer to home - Mike Perry and Mike Wilson played as a duo at Moog's last Friday. Everything from country rock to Little Richard to a jazz standard, even a first attempt at a complicated Four Seasons tune. I didn't miss the bass and drums at all. These guys were musically excellent and entertaining all the way through, even when they were still trying to figure out the tune. Mike Wilson is an impressive upcoming talent, a guitarist unlike any I have heard around here for a long time, and he is just getting started. They will be at the July 4 thing at Oxbow, I assume with a full band. I plan to go hear them.
